Tips for instructing a Solicitor
The first step you should take before visiting a solicitor is that they have experience with the type of case you are thinking of making. You should not be put off asking about their experience and what services they offer, for example free initial consultations.
If you have any additional requirements such as an interpreter or disabled access to the solicitors building, you should alert the solicitor so they can arrange what is necessary.
The first meeting with a potential solicitor is when you will need to take a lot of things to show him so you can discuss your case. You will need to prove you are who you claim to be by taking some form of identity such as a passport of birth certificate. The next important thing to take is details on who you want to take to court, this will mainly be name and address. The third lot of information you will need to take along is supporting evidence, basically anything you can gather to help you with your case. In some cases such as divorce proceedings, additional items such as marriage certificates will need to be provided to the solicitor.
